We have several external reps who are out on the road for at least 4 days a week – we want them to stay connected and be part of our communications network however. Therefore, does Vonage offer a mobile app, or can you use a browser version of the software or something like that? A mobile app would be the best option as our reps have smartphones – we wouldn’t even mind paying a little extra to use it.
Yes there is a smartphone app and it’s called Vonage extensions. I’ve used it and its fantastic – basically you can have the full functionality of the Vonage VoIP service from your smartphone – great if you want to use it at home!
The Vonage smartphone app is available on both Android and iOS devices and it doesn’t take up much space on your phone at all. You can use it to make free calls and messages from your smartphone and the connection works with either your WiFi or 3G/4G without using your own mobile data.
They do a neat comparison on their smartphone app and show how it is superior to Skype – you can use your existing address book, so any contacts you have in your phone already, you can use these on the Vonage system. Furthermore, you can make unlimited free calls to Vonage customers and you don’t even have to create a new profile or anything too.
You can actually purchase a plan for the Vonage extensions app on its own which works out at a reasonable rate actually – if you just want to use Vonage on your smartphone then they have a plan you can use. For the unlimited and business 1000 plans the app is free to use, for the standard package it just costs £1.50 extra on top of your monthly cost.
